Kartmania 7 Party Update!

Sunday, July 9th, 2023

We have a special treat for all of you for our Saturday night party. We are bringing in some fantastic BBQ from a local vendor. There’ll be pulled pork and pulled chicken with rolls and condiments plus a big tray of mac and cheese.

As always we invite our members bring your favorite summertime dishes to share. There are always lots of outstanding family recipe to enjoy. We love them all and we love your participation. However, we always seem to end up with more than we can eat and no place to keep them. We want to keep the tradition going but on a more manageable scale. So if you want to bring Grandma’s secret slaw (desserts and drinks are always welcome too!) please let us know via a quick email to NHKARacingSeries@gmail.com

Oh yeah, there’ll be racing too! We’ll be on the full road course for the only time this season, running clockwise with the chicane. Practice and qualifying Saturday and NHKA Race 5 on Sunday. Plus there are still a few slots available in the NHKA Karting Safety Course which will be run as a practice group Saturday. If you’re interested in joining the NHKA as a new driver please click here.

Most importantly, if you haven’t registered yet, do it now! The deadline is Tuesday July 11 at midnight. You definitely don’t want to miss out! www.BikeReg.com/NHKA

Thursday, June 29th, 2023

Preparations are well underway for the 7th edition of Kartmania! If you haven’t been you’re in for a treat! So get your entry in now at www.BikeReg.com/NHKA

There’s so much that sets this two-day event apart. For starters, this will be your only chance to race on Canaan Motor Club’s full road course this season. (Kid Karts will use the kart track. 206 Cadet will use Half Track 1 clockwise.) Secondly, this is the only event where Saturday is dedicated to practice and qualifying and Sunday is for NHKA Race 5 – road racing style. That means standing starts, high-speed drafting and smart racing strategy. Finally there’s the legendary Saturday evening cookout featuring plenty of food and fun games for everyone.

This is a hugely popular event, so register now at www.BikeReg.com/NHKA Registration closes at midnight on July 11 which will come before you know it. While this event is for 2023 NHKA members, experienced non-member karters may request to enter by emailing NHKARacingSeries@gmail.com before the deadline.

Stay tuned for details and get ready to go fast!

Race 3 & 4 Recap: Rain and Amazing Racing!

Friday, June 23rd, 2023

While our Saturday did not go as planned, it certainly went as forecasted. All the weather apps were calling for 1.5” to fall. We were pleasantly surprised to get in as many finals as we did. Unfortunately the last 3 races of the day didn’t happen so those drivers were awarded race points for their qualifying positions. When all was said and done the drivers did a great job with the conditions. A special shout out to all the friends, families and mechanics who stuck it out and worked their butts off!!!! We also want to thank our trusty corner workers for a busy day flagging. And also our master photographer Ken Repke who got some great shots.

On Sunday, close battles and great racing across all classes more than made up for Saturday’s tough conditions. Congratulations to all drivers, especially the Briggs 206 Juniors who put on a thrill show.

Thank you once again to everyone who made it a great weekend. We’re already looking forward to Kartmania 7!

Rain? Maybe.
Racing? Absolutely!

Thursday, June 15th, 2023

As we said at this time two weeks ago, and every time there’s a threat of rain: We can’t do anything about the weather!!! What we all can do is get out there anyway and have some fun. While other types of racing keep everyone standing around or just cancel, we race. We know it’s not everyone’s cup of mud, but rain racing is always better than not racing.

For those who’d like to skip camping or a long ride home and back for Sunday, we’re told that the Quality Inn Lebanon, NH has rooms available. In fact, there’s a racer who has a room booked he can’t use. Message us on Facebook if you want it and we will put you in touch.

The NHKA trailer is loaded with tire pre-orders and then some. We are not able to accept any more pre-orders, however we will have a large supply of rain tires and slicks available trackside while supplies last.

Attention Kid Kart Families
Kid Karts will not race on a wet track. We will do our best to give them track time during Saturday morning practice. but we cannot guarantee it. You are welcome to wait it out, or we can forward your entry to the next event.

Have you registered yet for our first 2 day/2 race weekend? If not, now is the time! www.BikeReg.com/NHKA Registration closes at midnight on Tuesday June 13. That’s just days away! We’ll be back on Canaan Motor Club’s Half Track 1 – same as last time. Clockwise on Saturday. Counterclockwise on Sunday. Remember, Kid Karts will race on Saturday only.

We have tires in stock and will have them trackside, but ordering before race day is always a good idea. We also have a new batch of rain tires – let’s hope we don’t need them!

It’s been a rapid-fire start to the season and we appreciate all of your help, patience and participation. A complete schedule for next weekend will be released on Thursday.

Register Now for Race 3 & 4

Tuesday, June 6th, 2023

Thank you to all who came out to play in the rain with us. It was a really good turnout for the conditions. The flip-flop from rain set up, to dry, then back to rain was challenging. It was nice to see so many drivers and mechanics helping each other swap tires and set ups. We also saw some great rain racing and excellent driving. Finally, a special thanks to Ken Repke for capturing great photos of the action despite the conditions.

Registration for Race 3 & 4 is already open on www.BikeReg.com/NHKA and closes on Tuesday June 13 at midnight. Not a lot of time between events this time, plus it’s the first doubleheader of the season, so we’re all are going to be extra busy over the next two weeks.

We will be on Half Track 1 racing clockwise on Saturday and counterclockwise on Sunday. Kid Karts will race on Saturday only. Stay tuned for more updates.

It’s Go Time – Race 2!

Friday, June 2nd, 2023

As you know there may or may not be rain Saturday morning. We feel the top speeds on Canaan’s Half Track 2 are too high for rain racing. So in the interest of safety we will be running clockwise on Half Track 1 all day. That way if it does rain there will be no need to change the track set up and you all will get some laps around the course.

This also means that we will need to add a couple extra practice groups to accommodate the Karting Safety Course. We will also combine a few practice groups as we are able. We will start at 9am sharp to make sure everyone gets two practice sessions before lunch break. Then we will likely split back up into the normal race groups, which will be joined by the new drivers who pass the Safety Course. Bottom line: It’ll take a smooth, trouble-free day on track to fit in all the planned laps, so we ask all drivers to use their heads, keep it on the asphalt and not be the ass at fault.

Finally, the Kid Karts typically get four sessions up to and during lunch break. However, as is always the policy, Kid Karts will not race on a wet track. It’s impossible to predict what the morning will bring, but we will get them out there as soon and as often as we can before the end of lunch.

LeCont/Levanto rain tires (white or purple label) are the only rain tires allowed. NHKA will have limited quantities available at the track, however pre-orders/reservations are now closed. We suggest making whatever arrangements available with your preferred NHKA Authorized Dealer.

Friday Night
Gate opens 4-8pm. No entry otherwise. No exceptions.
Trailer drop off, camping and safety tech is available in between those times.
No one is allowed on the property without the proper credentials.
Quiet generators only. Quiet time is 10pm.
No walking on the track after dark.
No bikes, skate boards, scooters, etc. anywhere on the property.
No engines may be started on Friday night.

Saturday
6:30am Gate opens. If you are early DO NOT park on the street in front of the track.
7:00am Pre-race safety inspections begin.
8:15am Mandatory drivers meeting. ALL drivers must attend. No exceptions.
NEW: No starting race engines until after the drivers meeting.
After the main meeting there will be a meeting for Safety Course drivers.

8:45am Kid Karts should be ready if the track is dry.

9:00am Group practice begins:
1 Cadet Safety Course
2 Sr./Jr. Safety Course
3 206 Cadet
4 TaG Sr./TaG Jr.
5 Tag Masters/ Shifters
6 206 Masters
7 206 Jr.
8 World Formula Light
9 World Formula Heavy

Race groups will be posted near the grid after practice.

Be sure to follow the NHKA page on Facebook for any important last-minute updates.

Registration for Race 2 Closes Soon!

Saturday, May 27th, 2023

Race 2 is approaching fast! Member registration ends at midnight on Tuesday May 30. So if you haven’t done it yet, get yourself over to bikereg.com/NHKA right now. Remember: All members received a new BikeReg password via email. So if you’re having trouble logging in, you probably need to check your inbox.

Race 2 will be on the same track configuration as Race 1 but in the reverse direction – clockwise. We will also welcome a few more new drivers with our second and final Karting Safety Course on the section of track to the left of the paddock.

Yes, we have a fresh batch of tires at the office. And yes, there will be tires for sale at the track, but only as supplies last. We recommend that everyone who knows they’ll need fresh rubber for the race use the tire order form to reserve theirs now.

Briggs 206 Cadet Weight Change

Saturday, May 27th, 2023

Starting with Race 2, the minimum weight for Briggs 206 Cadet will decrease to 250lbs. We are lowering the weight by 15lbs in the interest of safety and to stay in line with other race series. After speaking with drivers and parents, we feel this will be fair for everyone – not to mention easier on the backs of mechanics. We’ll watch the on-track results and if necessary make further adjustments.
