Another season would be just about in the rear-view mirror if karts had those. Nonetheless, here we are at Race 8, the NHKA Championship Finale, Saturday, October 18, at Canaan Motor Club. If you haven’t registered, get yourself over to www.bikereg.com/nhka before 6pm October 14. Go on, we’ll wait for you.

This last event of 2025 promises the suspense and excitement of intense competition with it-all-comes-down-to-this consequences. Season championships and top-three point finishes will be in play until the checkered flag flies. Mechanics will be double and triple checking their work. Drivers will be making split-second decisions about when to go hard and when to be patient. Hopefully, everyone will remember that THIS is what we live for and how ridiculously fortunate we are to be doing it! So, with a tip of the hat to our grand master of points, Jim Slade, we’ll factor in provisional drop races to take a look at the races to watch.

Briggs 206 Cadet
We don’t know what Jack Ensell and his team discovered after Race 1, but whatever it was, they should package it and sell it to the rest of us at every race. After starting his season with a 10th-place finish, he went on to win all but one of the remaining races, where he finished 2nd. This dominant performance essentially makes Race 8 a victory lap for Jack. However, Ryan Rollins and Enzo Cantone, who are only separated by 7.5 points, still need to sort out who is going to stand on which of the remaining steps of the championship podium.

Briggs 206 Junior
What’s it like to win every race and the championship in your rookie year? You’ll have to ask Briggs 206 Junior champ Damen Hernandez, who will be setting his sights on being the only driver in the entire series to achieve a perfect season in 2025. Congrats also to Jackson Blanchard who overcame a bumpy start to the season to settle into the consistency he needed to earn five podiums and 2nd-place championship honors. Further congrats to Thomas MacKintosh, whose solid season has him cruising into the finale with a firm grip on 3rd place.

Briggs 206 Senior Light
True to form, Ryan Archembault is the runaway 206 Senior Light champion by virtue of winning every race but one. Young veteran racer Caleb Jarvis-Comi’s five podiums puts him in position to take 2nd place in the championship, a step up from last season. However, he’ll want to keep William Tyler in sight, who is only 18 points back and will be gunning to break a late-season podium drought.

Briggs 206 Senior Medium
Uncharacteristically, Ryan Archembault only managed five wins in 206 Senior Medium this season (LOL!) However, it’s enough to give him a virtual lock on being the NHKA’s only double champ in 2025. Greg DeCampos’ four podiums give him a 17.5-point edge over Christian Flagg going into the last race. These two have been battling all season long, so it’ll be interesting to see how they balance going hard with patience and the outcome.

Briggs 206 Masters
By Tom Rosenfeld’s standards, four wins is an off year. That said, he only finished off the podium once, and unless an asteroid destroys the planet, he will win his third 206 Masters championship in a row. Doug Hutchison definitely made Tom work for it with a win and two podiums. As always, Marcelo DeCampos made his presence known with two wins and two podiums.

TaG Senior
Alex Gomes appears to be trying a new approach this season: stealth mode. He didn’t win until the sixth race, wasn’t at the first race and thus is only third on the latest points update. Don’t be fooled by his trickery. When you factor in drop races, he leads TaG Senior as usual, but not by much. Just 18 points back lurks Hugh North, who knows the championship is within reach. If that’s not enough drama for you, Alex Braga and Alessandro Boas are in a dead heat for the third step of the championship podium. This is definitely a race to watch!

TaG Masters
If there was ever a recipe for a race to watch, this is it: Take three of the most experienced and hardest-working drivers in the NHKA, guys who have raced against each other hundreds if not thousands of laps, who’ve each won races and racked up podiums throughout the season, then put them on track for the last race of the season separated by on 35 points. You better believe Marciano DosSantos, Alan Pope, and Robert Bain are gonna have a race to watch!

World Formula Light
With five wins and a 95-point lead, William Dzuba will most deservedly win his second World Formula Light championship in a row. The race to watch is for 2nd-place. Ronan Rice has only finished off the podium twice in 2025, so comes into the last race with a scant 12.5 point lead over Nicolas Georgantis, who has the momentum of two 2nd-place finishes in two of the last three races.

World Formula Heavy
If you know Fast Freddie Fawcett at all, you know the man lives and breathes racing. Few drivers bring radiating joy to the top step of the podium like him, which he did four times in 2025. So you can imagine the celebration if he holds on to win his 2nd championship in a row. He has a solid 30-point lead, but racing is racing and math is math, so nothing is a sure thing. Nobody knows this more than Jim Slade, who despite two wins and two 2nd-places, sits third in the championship 12.5 points behind rock-steady William Gunn, who only finished off the podium once this season. Wow! Once again, the World Formula Heavy hooligans will be having a last race you absolutely want to watch!

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve already arrived at the second-to-last race of the 2025 NHKA season. Some classes have tight championship battles between several drivers where each finishing position could prove decisive. This seems like a good time to remind everyone to race with respect. A championship won by clean, hard racing is one you can always be proud of. And if you’re not in contention this year, give the drivers who are the racing room you’ll want when it is your year. Most important of all, have fun. We are all super competitive and work very hard to do our best… it’s what makes this club so great… but if you’re not having fun, you’re not quite doing it right.

In other NHKA racing news, our own Blake Lothian will be making his New Hampshire Motor Speedway debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Saturday. Blake has been a member, driver, and flagger with the NHKA Racing Series for 10 years. It figures that his first race at NHMS falls on our race day! LOL We’ll just have to cheer him on in the #22 truck as we race ourselves.

All minor drivers and guests must be accompanied by a parent, or a responsible adult in possession of a temporary guardianship letter notarized as signed by the parents.

No one may be on the property at any time without a pit pass wristband purchased at the gate.

Thank you all for a picture-perfect race weekend. The weather was ideal and the on-track action both days were great. Thank you all for getting to the grid on time, staying on the track, and keeping incidents to a minimum.

FYI: We will not be running any Karting Safety Courses during race events for the reminder of the season. Who else is ready for our last 2-day event of the season? The weather forecast is very good, and we’re looking forward to another fun weekend with our racing family. We will be on Track 1. Clockwise on Saturday, counterclockwise on Sunday.

We will be conducting a Karting Safety Course on Saturday morning. This crop of new drivers all have some karting experience, so we anticipate them moving quickly into their respective groups. Let’s all help them have a great first day.

A Couple Reminders…
Pit Pass sales for non-drivers are CASH ONLY at the gate. $25 for a 2-day pass, $15 for Sunday only. Please remember that NO ONE may be on the property at any time without a pit pass wristband.

Thank you all for making Kartmania 9 such a blast! Delicious BBQ, lots of homecooked goodies, cornhole madness, a live musical performance, plus great pit decorations – congrats to Addie Mae Racing and all of those unicorns!

Thank you also for your cooperation getting the races in early on Sunday ahead of the forecasted rain. The rain never came, but we are grateful for your efforts to ensure everyone would have been able to race if it had.

It’s here. Kartmania 9. This will be Race 4, and the only event of the season where championship points will be awarded for qualifying. It’s also the only event the NHKA gets back to its road racing roots. All senior classes will race on the full road course with the chicane. 206 Cadet and 206 Junior will run Track 1 clockwise. It’s gonna be super-fast and super fun!

We hope everyone is ready for a lot of track time. Saturday will be a full day of practice by groups. To get everyone the maximum time behind the wheel, we may try to combine some groups. So be sure to check near the grid Saturday morning for the listing of practice groups and their running order.

On or about 4pm Saturday, we will switch to race groups for qualifying. Your race group may be different from your practice group, so be sure to check the list posted near the grid in the afternoon. Remember, for this weekend only, qualifying pays championship points (1/2 race points) which will be added to your Sunday race points – making this likely the most important qualifying session of your season.

On Sunday morning, we will run two rounds of practice, then go right into timed extended races.

BBQ!!!!!
After the conclusion of Saturday’s on-track activities, you are all invited to join us for a BBQ. We will be serving up pulled pork, mac and cheese, and apple baked beans from the Poor House BBQ in Canaan Village. We will also be grilling burgers and dogs. We have it on good authority that a number of members will be bringing delicious homemade desserts and sides. If you would like to bring your own special dish to share, please let us know at nhkaracingseries@gmail.com There will also be the fun pit decorating contest. The rules are simple: Must be non-political, family-friendly, and not include loud music or noises. And like last year, bribing the judges is not necessarily forbidden… but not guaranteed to work either.

A Few Reminders…

Registration is closed. We will not accept any late registrations.

No one is allowed on the property without a pit pass wristband.

Anyone under 18 years of age (competitor or not) must be with at least one of their parents OR accompanied by an adult in possession of a signed and notarized temporary guardianship letter, which you can download here.

Overnight camping: The gate will be closed at 9pm on both nights. NO ENTRY OR RE-ENTRY AFTER 9PM. You may leave the property at any time, but you must be back by 9pm. No exceptions.

The spec fuel for all Briggs classes is 87 octane pump gas from Jake’s Store/Erving Gas, right next to the Canaan Fire Station, immediately before the center of town when coming from the track.

Spec oil for all Briggs classes is Amsoil 4t. No additives.

We had several disqualifications during our post-race tech at the last event. We are checking several different things each week. DO NOT CHEAT. It’s not worth it.

We hope you all had a fun and safe 4th of July holiday with family and friends. We have been quiet these past couple of weeks getting in some much needed vacation and family time.

The Kartmania/Race 4 weekend is fast approaching. We are looking forward to another weekend of good weather. All senior classes will run the full road course with the chicane clockwise. 206 Cadet and 206 Junior will run track 1 clockwise. Saturday will be a full day of group practice – 4-5 sessions each. Around 4pm we will start qualifying by race groups to determine starting positions for Sunday’s racing as well as championship points that will be on top of the points your earn for your finishing position in the race Sunday. Qualifying well at Kartmania could make all the difference when the points are totaled at the end of the season.

After qualifying on Saturday we would like to invite all of our racers and friends to stick around for a BBQ social. About the incident at the last event… As most of you know, we had an unfortunate incident between two parents in the viewing area. We have been discussing and monitoring the situation along with track management. Actions will be taken which will be discussed at Saturday morning’s drivers meeting. There was also another incident on the property that weekend, as well as several post-race tech issues that will also be discussed.

Race 1 is in the books—after we wiped it down with WD-40 and left it in the sun to dry. If you feel like we’re getting picked on by Mother Nature, know that every Saturday event at Canaan since mid-April has been rained on. All we can do is hope for better weather next time or consider taking up speedboat racing.

It rained all day, but 100 drivers had a blast! Despite the conditions, everyone did a fantastic job staying on track and keeping the vibe fun. The day wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated (and waterproof!) track staff, corner workers, and property manager. Be sure to say thanks the next time you see them.

Up next is our Race 2 & 3 Doubleheader Weekend on June 21 & 22, featuring complete race-day schedules on both Saturday and Sunday. Registration is open now at www.bikereg.com/nhka and closes on June 18 at 6pm.
